Jeremy Mayne is an active concert guitarist and performs as a soloist and chamber musician. He has concertized throughout the U.S., as well as in Canada, Mexico, and South America. In addition to solo engagements, he has played chamber music and as a concerto soloist with Opera Southwest, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Symphony, Chatter, Albuquerque Chamber Soloists, UNM Orchestra, and the Albuquerque Philharmonic. He has released four CDs of solo and duo music, including an album of original compositions for steel-string guitar and a solo album spanning four centuries of Spanish masterworks. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from the University of New Mexico, under Michael Chapdelaine, and a Master’s degree in Guitar Performance with a Minor in Jazz Studies from Indiana university, under Ernesto Bitetti and Luis Zea.
Jeremy served as the conductor of the Guitar New Mexico guitar ensemble program, directing the Guitar Chamber Players and the GNM Youth Orchestra. He has also been a guest conductor at Vanguard University and for the District VII Honor Guitar Ensembles.
Jeremy Mayne has been teaching classical guitar professionally since 1997. In 2000, he was appointed as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of New Mexico guitar program. In 2003, this gave way to a full-time faculty position in the Performing Arts Department at Albuquerque Academy, where he currently teaches. As a faculty member in the Academy Guitar Program, Jeremy, along with colleagues Mickey Jones, John Truitt, and Genevieve Leitner helped elevate the program to one of international renown, producing many students who have gone on to study, compete, record, perform, and teach at the highest levels.
